The following information is for volunteers from the NBC Channel 4 Volunteers Initiative Program and the general public.

The volunteer positions listed below are ongoing and located all over Southern California communities. As a mobile program, volunteers may report to various locations in the community where Straight Talk Program (STP) has established office space or presentation appointments. In certain situations, work can also be done from the volunteer's residence.

Positions Needed

Administrative Assistance: Help with the daily operation of the program; returning phone calls, scheduling presentations, and replying to community correspondences.

Marketing Staff: Work to promote the program in order to motivate others to donate, volunteer, or increase awareness.

Fundraising Coordinator: Raise funds by organizing and carrying out fundraising events and activities.

Program Researcher: Develop tools to measure the outcome of our services, as well as a tracking system to measure ongoing results.

Program Writer/ Journalist: Maintain a record of the program’s history and ongoing newsletters. Help write and edit STP documents.

Grant Writer: Pursues and writes grants and locates other funding sources.

Attorneys: Looking for attorneys in all different areas of the law. In particular, we need help with our ongoing quarterly expungement clinics for adults and juveniles for record sealing. We are also looking for legal advice in regards to the operation of the program.

CPA Accountant: Specializing in non-profit organizations to maintain the program’s financial records and assist with financial planning and budgeting.

Bookkeeper: Maintain the ongoing financial operation of the program and work closely with the CPA accountant.

Documentary Film Producer: Create a documentary of STP program’s history and the available services.

Media and Public Information Officer: Act as a spokesperson to promote the program to the media and to represent the program when providing comments to the media on issues concerning the community.

Social Media Staff: Help promote the program through social media and design and maintain the website.

Photographers/Videographers: Take pictures at STP events and keep records STP history and program activities.

Board Members: STP is recruiting dedicated board members to help the program raise funds, awareness, and seek ongoing sponsors and donors in the community.

Graphic Designer: Develop program merchandise (t-shirts, hats, and cups, etc.) that can be used to raise funds and increase awareness.

Ongoing Speakers: Ex-offenders, including youth, can help others by sharing their story.

Graduates and Undergraduates Internships: STP can help tailor the internship to fit your degree or career interest.

Educational Consultant: Help to monitor and increase the academic success of youth and adults.

Tutors: To provide one-on-one or group tutoring in academics subjects.

STP: Welcomes volunteers in all areas of program development.
